I’m torn on how I feel about this book。 I started it because it was one I found at my parents house and thought I would give it a read! A lot of great, convicting points that is truly needed in the life of a Christian。 Some points, however I felt like was biased on what she believed on certain topics and tired to incorporate her opinion but also adding few pieces here and there of Scripture to lessen the opinion side of things。 She also added people’s perspectives which I liked, but not the ones I’m torn on how I feel about this book。 I started it because it was one I found at my parents house and thought I would give it a read! 3。5 stars。 She speaks on things that can be applied in every day life。 What bothered me about this book was Eve’s inner dialogue at the beginning of every chapter because it’s pure fiction。

I think this book was very helpful and awakening。 It helped snap me out of the lies that I've let deceive me for most of my life。 Its not easy to turn away but knowing what can help me turn away helps。 Truly recommended for women of God who are trying to become better believers by moving away from sin。 I think this book was very helpful and awakening。 It helped snap me out of the lies that I've let deceive me for most of my life。 Its not easy to turn away but knowing what can help me turn away helps。 Truly recommended for women of God who are trying to become better believers by moving away from sin。 。。。more

I have very mixed feelings about this book。 On the one hand, it’s filled with marvelous biblical truths。 There were many that I need to practice reminding myself daily。 But on the other hand, it is also filled with a lot of opinions that are solely based on personal preferences but being presented as the only path for a genuine believer。 That is super problematic for those (myself included) that may think they are unbiblical because they disagree。 Overall, it’s not a bad book but I probably woul I have very mixed feelings about this book。 On the one hand, it’s filled with marvelous biblical truths。 There were many that I need to practice reminding myself daily。 But on the other hand, it is also filled with a lot of opinions that are solely based on personal preferences but being presented as the only path for a genuine believer。 That is super problematic for those (myself included) that may think they are unbiblical because they disagree。 Overall, it’s not a bad book but I probably wouldn’t recommend it to anyone。 。。。more

3。5/5 ⭐️I think she has some good biblical truth about identifying lies that we believe and how to combat that with the word of God- I think she does this part really well。 However each chapter begins with a “note from Eves diary” which I just found really assuming of how Eve felt in Genesis when scripture really don’t say a lot about what Eve was thinking/what she was feeling, so a lot of that felt assumed and guessed which I didn’t love。 But it went along with what she was trying to achieve so 3。5/5 ⭐️I think she has some good biblical truth about identifying lies that we believe and how to combat that with the word of God- I think she does this part really well。 However each chapter begins with a “note from Eves diary” which I just found really assuming of how Eve felt in Genesis when scripture really don’t say a lot about what Eve was thinking/what she was feeling, so a lot of that felt assumed and guessed which I didn’t love。 But it went along with what she was trying to achieve so it worked for the author。 She has a lot of hot takes when it comes to “big topics in womanhood” (family planning, stay at home moms, etc) and as a reader feels like she uses scripture to say “this is the only way。” Example: using 1 Peter 3 to talk about beauty when it is referring to the wife of a unbelieving husband。 So wish it would have been more “this is what I believe/feel about this topic” than “this is the lie and here is the truth you must follow” when it comes to personal convictions about some topics that are grey。 I did love at the end she walks through truths of scripture that we can cling to when believing the lies and how to involve community, prayer, and self reflection。 Overall I liked the broad premise of the book just thought her opinions came on strong。 Would recommend reading, just go in reading and searching the scriptures for yourself as well in the different topics。 。。。more

This book could be life changing or an excellent review of Biblical truths that run counter to what self and culture shout at us。 The "diary" of Eve portions and present day examples round out and warm what would otherwise be a bit terse。 No fluff here! It’s certainly not the worst book I’ve ever read。 As I began I found myself in agreement with much of what was written, although there were places where I don’t personally track with the author’s theology (for instance, the idea that Eve “seduced her husband to sin” and that she “wrecked his life。” )Some of what this book got right was:-Encouragement that those in Christ are free of guilt and condemnation。 You don’t have to be gripped by the fear of what people think or of chasing after the appr It’s certainly not the worst book I’ve ever read。 As I began I found myself in agreement with much of what was written, although there were places where I don’t personally track with the author’s theology (for instance, the idea that Eve “seduced her husband to sin” and that she “wrecked his life。” )Some of what this book got right was:-Encouragement that those in Christ are free of guilt and condemnation。 You don’t have to be gripped by the fear of what people think or of chasing after the approval of others。 Your value is not up for a vote。-The claim that the author’s goal is not for the reader to agree with everything she says, but to motivate the reader to seek the truth and evaluate their lives in light of it。-Reminders that the deepest longings of the heart can never be filled by other people or things。-She approached the topic of priorities in a gentle way, not attempting to dictate a woman’s priorities or place guilt trips on people for not doing enough。-She addresses the topic of depression in a way that acknowledges many people suffer with it, and it is not necessarily an indicator of one’s spiritual condition。However, once I reached the chapter on marriage things really started to fall apart。I have the same complaints about this book that I have about most other books for Christian women。1。 There is a disclaimer about abuse, which says it is wrong, no husband is ever justified in abusing his wife, and to get help if you suspect you’re being abused。 She even mentions the idea of “polite abuse”, which implies that non-physical forms of manipulation and intimidation are wrong。 However, when she encourages victims to seek help, she specifies that you should get to a safe place if you are being *physically* harmed。 The rest of the book is sprinkled with illustration after illustration of women who stayed through decades of a “miserable marriage。”2。 It is pretty clear that she has a severe lack of understanding regarding abuse。 One cannot tell women that it is not ok for them to be abused, then in multiple places refer to the following all in a positive light: women enduring a “miserable marriage”, a “troubled marriage”, a “difficult marriage”, marriage to “a difficult and ungodly man”, and even a marriage where a woman is “suffering”。3。 Over and over the author gives positive illustrations of women living in these types of marriages for *decades。* She normalizes the idea of women suffering for an entire lifetime in their marriage。 “Even a lifetime is not forever,” she says。4。 There is an entire chapter devoted to the idea that thinking one has personal rights is a lie from the devil。 According to the author, you are deceived if you think you have a right to be respected and loved。 For clarity on why you absolutely have a right to be treated with respect, I recommend the book “Untwisting Scriptures” by Rebecca Davis。5。 The book promotes silly, cliche ideas that women are supposed to tiptoe around their husband’s ego so that he can be the “spiritual leader。” If you have an opinion about something, as a wife, you are only supposed to express that opinion a certain way, in a certain tone of voice, a certain number of times, and at the end of the day, your husband is the authority in all things, no matter how badly his decisions will affect you and your children。 As long as he is not requiring you to sin, you must obey your husband’s every command。6。 Wives are to love and forgive without limit。 Now, I have no problem with loving and forgiving, but based upon the context of the whole book, the reader actually understands forgiveness to mean never, ever leave your marriage for any reason。 “There is no marriage God cannot heal。 There is no person God cannot change,” she says。 Of course God is able to change anyone, but that is a very different thing from the fact that the vast majority of abusers *choose not to let God change them。* She gives wonderful illustrations of women who prayed and waited for their husbands to change - and they did! That is a wonderful thing, and many women find themselves led by God to take this approach。 However, on the other hand there is not a single illustration, out of thousands which could be given, of godly women who said “I will not be party to my husband’s sinful actions。” “I will trust God to provide my needs as a single mother。” “I will not assume the guilt of ‘breaking the marriage covenant’ when in fact I kept every vow I made。 My husband is in actuality the one who wronged his family, and this piece of paper is only an official acknowledgment of the irreparable damage he did。"I could elaborate more, but I promised myself I’d try to be succinct。 Though I have no reason to think negatively of the author as a person, and though she does have some good things to say, it is clear that she views and writes about life from a lens that has no real understanding of abuse。 If one truly understands abuse and still flippantly tells women that “at least a lifetime is shorter than forever” then I seriously question whether their conscience works properly。 So while I certainly hope she does not advise women in such a way out of cruelty; she nevertheless offers extremely damaging advice, and I can in no way recommend this book。 。。。more

This book is like a chocolate covered radish。 It looks good on the outside, but it is bitterly disappointing on the inside。 And I like radishes! This powerful book is filled with truth。 These are truths taken from the Bible to counteract the lies that can fill our heads and deceive us。 This book should be read with a Bible in your other hand as many references should be looked up。 Journaling while reading will also be helpful。 This book can be kept as a reference book and tool to be used throughout your life。

Nancy DeMoss’ ministry has been a huge blessing in my life。 Listening to Revive our Hearts was part of my daily commute to work before Covid。 I’ve always wanted to read this book and one day I found it in the thrift store and I was overjoyed! I loved it! Freedom is where truth is and she is not afraid to write hard truths of the gospel。

I can definitely see how this book could be a difficult read。。。It's hard to admit that we struggle because we listen to (and sometimes believe) the lies Satan plants in our minds。 But that's what makes this book such an important read, because no matter which lie you've believed (or are currently believing), there is a Biblical truth that can combat and overcome it。 I can definitely see how this book could be a difficult read。。。It's hard to admit that we struggle because we listen to (and sometimes believe) the lies Satan plants in our minds。 But that's what makes this book such an important read, because no matter which lie you've believed (or are currently believing), there is a Biblical truth that can combat and overcome it。 。。。more

The first half is filled with scripture, and is amazing。 The second half was very repetitive- repeating the truth of the first half in different ways。**I admire this author-but she has been married only a few years and has no children。。。。 and this certainly was very noticeable in the chapters about marriage and children。 It was not necessarily addressed in a very approachable way**

This was a great read。 I really loved how she backed up all the lies we believe with Scripture and the truth。 I felt immersed in this book towards the second half。 Personally I enjoyed the 21 truths that will sets us free and loved what she said, "I don't know when or how all His promises will be fulfilled。 But I do know that I believe His word。 Whatever days I have left on this earth I want to spend walking in Truth, obeying Him, and influencing those I love to do the same。" This was a great read。 I really loved how she backed up all the lies we believe with Scripture and the truth。 I felt immersed in this book towards the second half。 Personally I enjoyed the 21 truths that will sets us free and loved what she said, "I don't know when or how all His promises will be fulfilled。 But I do know that I believe His word。 Whatever days I have left on this earth I want to spend walking in Truth, obeying Him, and influencing those I love to do the same。" 。。。more
